An important message about Devers water

A very important notice for residents of Devers - the City of Devers will be shutting off water Thursday around 9 a.m. According to information from city officials, the Devers water tower must be completely drained before making needed repairs. The collar at the base of the tower is leaking and getting progressively worse. If the collar breaks before Thursday morning, the city of Devers would be without water sooner. Devers officials urge residents to start making preparations as soon as possible. That includes storing water in containers for use for cooking or drinking or in your bathtub to use for flushing the toilet. If all goes according to plans, repairs will be complete and water will be turned back on by Thursday evening. Once the repairs are complete and water is restored, then a boil water notice will be in effect until the water is tested and cleared for drinking. Again, the City of Devers is set to turn off water Thursday around 9 a.m. to make needed repairs to the water tower. Residents are urged to prepare. For more information, call Devers City Secretary Kristi Ayers at 936-549-7474 or Mayor Steve Horelica at 214-934-2646.
