DISD Celebrations

The Dayton school district is inviting the community to two grand opening celebrations a week from Saturday – that date is January 20. One is at the new DISD Support Service Center while the other is for the district’s Sports Hall of Fame. The new service center is what was the old Stephen F. Austin Elementary campus, and those renovations were funded by the $87.8 million bond package approved by Dayton school district voters back in 2014. Those bond funds have also been used for building and furnishing new schools as well as improvements, renovations and upgrades throughout the district. As for the Sports Hall of Fame, that is located in an extra room at the Nottingham Alternative Education Center. Those efforts were led by a group of community volunteers. Again, the community is invited to two Dayton school district grand opening celebrations on Saturday, January 20. The first is at the DISD Support Service Center, 702 South Cleveland Street. It starts with a ribbon cutting at 9:30 a.m. followed by tours and a reception from 10 to 11 that morning. Then, also January 20, there’s a grand opening at the Dayton ISD Sports Hall of Fame on the backside of the Nottingham Alternative Education Center, 302 South Cleveland Street. That ribbon cutting is at 11 a.m. followed by tours and a reception from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Everyone is invited to both of those Dayton ISD events.
