Freedom Ride

There’s still time to sign up for the Liberty Freedom Ride benefiting the Liberty ISD Education Foundation. That ride is set for Saturday, April 8. Foundation Coordinator Bruce Wright said there are five competitive distances with routes covering 20, 33, 44, 61 and 79 miles.  The non-profit Liberty ISD Education Foundation was established in 2007 to fund innovative teaching ideas on the district’s four campuses that go beyond the district’s operating budget. Mr. Wright said, during that time, the Liberty ISD Education Foundation has awarded $183,443 in grants. Once more, the Liberty Freedom Ride is set for Saturday, April 8, starting at 8 a.m. All rides will start and end at the Humphrey’s Cultural Center on Sam Houston Street in Liberty. There are five competitive distances with routes covering 20, 33, 44, 61 and 79 miles. These are not races, they are rides. Pre-registration is $35, but on the day of the event it’s $40. There also will be a two-mile social ride. Entry into that one is $15 a rider. To register, go online to www.LibertyEducationFoundation.com. For more information, call Bruce Wright at 936-641-0367. Again, proceeds benefit students of the Liberty school district through the Liberty ISD Education Foundation.
