Missing Man Found
The search for a missing Liberty man has taken a tragic turn. Liberty police department reports they located the body of Benjamin “Wes” Cornell floating in a large area of water near the end of Washington Street. We had reported the 37-year-old man was last seen January 29 walking toward that area where he was known to spend time. Sunday morning, Liberty police returned to that area of the city to continue searching for Mr. Cornell. Aerial photos taken with a drone identified what appeared to be a human body. LibertyFire Department was called for assistance in recovery. Justice of the Peace Precinct 4 Larry Wilburn held an inquest an ordered an autopsy through the Jefferson County Medical Examiners Office. Again, the body of 37-year-old Benjamin “Wes” Cornell was found Sunday morning in water at the end of Washington Streetin Liberty. At this time, Liberty police say there is no evidence of foul play.
