Community Baby Shower

Most listeners know that decorated combat Air National Guard Chief Warrant Officer II Lucas Maurice Lowe of Hardin was killed when his Apache helicopter crashed in Galveston Bay in late December. Now, efforts are under way to help his family. Lucas’ wife, Kami, is expecting twins – one boy and one girl. With that in mind, Liberty Church of Christ will host a communitywide baby shower for Kami Lowe this Saturday, January 14. It starts at 10 a.m. in the church – 3201 North Main Streetat the bypass. Liberty Church of Christ Minister Don Prather says it will be a come-and-go event. Organizers say items needed include baby diapers, wipes, personal hygiene products, baby clothes, and gift cards. In addition, a Go Fund Me account has been set up to benefit Lucas Lowe’s widow. That account was set up by Jordan Doucette, classmate of Lowe through Warrant  Officer Candidate School and some of flight school.  If you would like to make a donation that way, go online to - from there type Lucas Lowe into their search. Also, a local bank account has been set up, and the family is requesting memorial donations to the Lucas Lowe Family Benefit Account at Texas First Bank in Liberty – that is the former Hull State Bank on Main Street in Liberty.
