Fishing tourney to benefit CASA

Listen up fishermen - there is still time to sign up for a fundraising fishing tournament set for Saturday, July 20th, benefiting Court Appointed Special Advocates, or CASA, of Liberty and Chambers Counties. CASA is an organization that recruits, trains and supports volunteers to advocate in the child welfare system for the best interests of abused and neglected children. The July 20thfishing tourney will be held at Oak Island Lodge in Anahuac. This fun-filled event features cash prizes for first through third place in three divisions - Team Stringer, Individual Redfish, and Individual Trout. They will also have a 50/50 cash payout for Redfish, Trout, Flounder, Blackjack and Texas Slam – that’s the heaviest stringer with one trout, one redfish and one flounder. The event will also include a silent auction. There will be a captain’s meeting on Friday, July 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Oak Island Lodge. Signups for the July 20 fishing tournament can be done online at www.casa-events.org. Entry is $400 per team or $100 for an individual plus the cost for each Calcutta contest. Registration includes dinner and a T-shirt. If you would like to become a sponsor or donate a silent auction item for the tournament, contact Ashton White at 281-415-0880. All proceeds benefit CASA of Liberty and Chambers Counties. Learn more about becoming a CASA volunteer advocate by calling the CASA office in Liberty at 936-334-9000.
