Daisetta man dies in Iowa construction site accident

A 51-year-old Daisetta man has died at a construction site in rural Iowa. According to the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Department in Iowa, Lee Burt Gruver died Wednesday. A 1986 graduate of Liberty High School, he is the son of Batson Prairie Baptist Church Pastor Lee and his wife, Linda, Gruver. His sister is Christi Ladd. She is the widow of Kevin Ladd. KSHN is told the younger Lee Gruver worked as a truck pilot for a big 18-wheel, tractor-trailer transport that hauled wind turbines. He reportedly was on a job site in rural Iowa where the big turbine blades were being offloaded from six trucks. His family has been told that when a crane lifted one of the turbine blades, the truck it had been on shifted and penned Lee Gruver between the tires of two trailers, killing him instantly. The construction site accident is under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol and the Iowa Department of Transportation. An autopsy will be preformed sometime today or Monday. Then, his body will be returned to Liberty County. Funeral services for 51-year-old Lee Burt Gruver of Daisetta are pending with Faith and Family Funeral Services of Batson. Again, he is the son of Lee and Linda Gruver of Daisetta.
