Another property tax deadline nears

The official deadline for property owners to pay any remaining 2018 property taxes without incurring attorney collection costs is drawing near. The annual deadline for taxpayers to pay those property taxes without attorney fees that can be up to 20 percent is June 30. Since that falls on a Sunday this year, taxpayers have until Monday, July 1, to make those payments. Liberty County Tax Assessor Collector Ricky Brown said even paying a portion of property taxes owed could save taxpayers a substantial amount of money. Mr. Brown’s office collects taxes for most local taxing entities in Liberty County. The main tax office is on the first floor - Travis Street side - of the Liberty County Courthouse. The Dayton office is in the Liberty County Annex on FM 1960 while the Cleveland office is in the County Annex at 304 Campbell Street. A reminder about hours of operation – all three tax offices are open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Each office closes for lunch from 12:30 to 1 p.m. daily. Taxpayers can also make a payment online. You can access the Liberty County tax office’s website from kshn.com – just click on the government tab under local information. Once on the Liberty County site, look under the “offices” tab for the tax assessor-collector link. Again, this year’s deadline for property owners to pay any remaining 2018 taxes without extra attorney collection fees is Monday, July 1. For information, call the Liberty office 936-336-4633.
