Fatality accident claims life of longtime Whataburger employee

A 47-year-old Liberty man died Sunday afternoon in a two-vehicle accident on State Highway 61 at County Road 109 south of Devers. DPS Sgt. Eric Burse reports 76-year-old Fred Marberry was southbound on S.H. 61 when he turned into the path of a northbound pickup truck driven by 36-year-old Brian Stanton of Beaumont. Sgt. Burse said the passenger in Mr. Marberry’s vehicle, identified as 47-year-old Robert Marberry, died in that crash. Robert was a longtime employee at the Whataburger restaurant in Liberty. Funeral service for Robert Marberry is a week from Saturday, May 18, at 10 a.m. at North Main Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Guedry Cemetery under the direction of Allison Funeral Service. Visitation is a week from Friday, May 17, from 5 to 8 p.m., also at North Main Baptist Church.
