Mayhaw Festival today through Sunday

A reminder - the 37th Annual Hull-Daisetta Mayhaw Festival is today (Friday) through Sunday. It’s a fun-filled, family event that takes place on the grounds of Hull-Daisetta High School. Today’s activities start at 5 p.m. and include a BBQ cook-off, food vendors, karaoke, a beauty pageant and gospel singing. Also tonight, there will be an outdoor family movie and the Citizen of the Year will be recognized. Then tomorrow, the Mayhaw Festival activities get under way with a parade at 10 a.m. Organizers say it’s for everyone. Tomorrow’s fun festivities include a cook-off for kids, a car rally, vendor booths, plus a jelly and baking contest. There will also be tournaments for dominoes, volleyball and basketball. Make sure to stop by the main tent and listen to the various entertainers throughout the day. Then, tomorrow night’s street dance starts at 8 o’clock and features Herbie Stutes and the Grand Shin Band. Moving on to Sunday, there is a community church service at 10 a.m. followed at noon by dinner on the grounds. That’s the 37th Annual Mayhaw Festival today through Sunday at Hull-Daisetta High School. Organizers say it’s fun for the whole family.
