Commissioners action on plats more evidence of coming growth

Liberty Countyis growing – no question about that, and the latest example of the rapid rate of that growth came during commissioners’ court Tuesday morning. During the regular meeting, Liberty County commissioners approved two final plats for subdivisions. They also adopted a re-plat of another and gave their preliminary OK to a fourth subdivision. David Douglas wears several hats for the county. He serves as the department administrator for permits and inspections, flood plain and grants. Mr. Douglas is also the interim administrator for the county’s engineering department. As part of his duties, he appeared before commissioners asking them to take action on those plats. Liberty County Commissioners gave final plat approval for Southern Crossing Section 6 owned and developed by Jim Culberson. That section, off I-69 near Cleveland, includes 176 new lots. Commissioners also approved the final plat for 290 new lots in the Encino Estates Section 2 north of Kenefick off FM 1008. Pat Baker is developer of that property. By the way, Section 1 with 395 lots, is already sold out. Also approved was a re-plat of Trey Harris’ Grand San Jacinto Section Seven that is northeast of Plum Grove. That re-plat was for the purpose of adding additional storm water detention areas. As for the preliminary plat approval for Trey Harris’ Santa Fe Section Four, also northeast of Plum Grove, it is for the addition of 1,400 residential lots. Final approval for that plat is expected later this month. Of note, Sections 1, 2 and 3 already include a total of 5,196 lots. Again, based on action taken by commissioners court on Tuesday, a total of 1,866 new residential lots will soon be on the market in Liberty County. That is just the latest example of the growth heading our way.
