Liberty city manager on sanitary sewer project

We have reported on the millions of dollars in renovations to the city of Liberty’s sanitary sewer system currently underway. Liberty City Manager Tom Warner said one of the most visible of those projects has been the work to replace sanitary sewer lines on the South Side of U. S. 90. Mr. Warner said the sewer line to be replaced there is too deep underground for traditional methods, so crews are doing what is called micro-tunneling. That technique uses a remote controlled boring device to create small underground tunnels that give access to the pipes that need replacement without having to dig a trench. Liberty City Manager Tom Warner said the process is time consuming, especially when the Trinity River is high. Liberty City Manager Tom Warner said in all the city is spending around $5.3 million dollars on sanitary sewer system upgrades while another $6 million going toward water system projects.
