Former Dayton teacher sentenced for child pornography

A former Dayton ISD Richter Elementary School teacher and Boy Scouts leader has been sentenced to prison after pleading guilty to child pornography charges. KSHN reported back in April of last year that Joshua Janecka was taken into custody and his Dayton ISD computer was seized. The arrest was made by the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office. They also served a search warrant on the man’s Harris County home. At the time, Joshua Janecka was placed on administrative leave from the Dayton school district. He subsequently resigned. Now, court records from the Harris County District Clerk’s Office show Joshua Janecka entered a guilty plea March 22 in the 337th District Court of Judge Herb Ritchie. Records show the 32-year-old former Dayton ISD teacher admitted his guilt to two third-degree felony counts of Possession of Child Pornography and one second-degree felony count of Possession with Intent to Distribute Child Pornography. He was sentenced to three years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Attorney Mike Fielder, the legal counsel for Dayton ISD, said no local students were victims.
