Liberty police reportedly nab burglar in the act

Libertypolice arrested a 22-year-old man yesterday afternoon, reportedly caught in the act of committing a burglary. According to information from Liberty Police Lt. Chip Fairchild, police responded to a burglary in progress in the 1700 block of Kipling Street around 3:15 p.m. Monday. The homeowner - not at the house at the time - called police because she had received a notification of motion on her home’s video cameras. Upon their arrival, officers reportedly saw Kevin D. Chambers exciting the home’s front door. Lt. Fairchild said they found several electronic items taken from inside the house in Chamber’s possession. The homeowner reports that Kevin Chambers had come to her door a couple of times recently asking for water, and she had only recently installed the video surveillance equipment. Again, Liberty police say they arrested 22-year-old Kevin Chambers in the act of committing a burglary yesterday afternoon. The Liberty man now faces a second-degree felony charge of Burglary of Habitation. Liberty police encourage area residents to report any suspicious activities as it could be tied to something else in the future or past.
