Dayton council to consider DCDC grants Dec. 17

At their meeting Monday the Dayton City Council heard the first complete reading of two proposed grants from the Dayton Community Development Corporation. We reported these DCDC Grants are required to be read during two separate meetings and a public hearing must be held before council can vote on final approval. We reported at their last meeting Dayton Council gave tentative approval of a DCDC grant proposing a $200,000 for Oleon Americas. Oleon is a subsidiary of a large European based company that manufactures what are called oleo-chemicals. These chemicals are derived from plants and animal fats used in the production of lubricants, solvents and bio-plastics.  Oleon is interested in building a manufacturing facility inside the Gulf Inland Logistics Park, south of Dayton. On Monday, Dayton Council also heard the first full reading of resolution for a proposed grant of $250,000 to Baytown Cardiologist Dr. Shehzad Sami. Dr. Sami is planning to locate an office in Dayton on U. S. 90 Now that each of these grant resolutions has been read aloud once, Dayton Council will meet again on December 17th to hear each of the grant resolutions read aloud again. Council will also hold a public hearing before putting approval of the grants to a final vote.
