Commissioners approve vehicle auction, final plat for new store

Liberty County Commissioners made quick work of Tuesday’s short agenda. Among the items for consideration was the disposal of 28 cars and trucks. Twenty are used Liberty County Sheriff’s Department vehicles. The other eight vehicles were seized in connection with criminal activities and then awarded to the sheriff’s office through court proceedings. During Tuesday’s meeting, commissioners renewed an agreement with a company known as Auto Title and Registration Consultants to auction off vehicles on behalf of the county. Commissioners then approved disposing of the 28 vehicles at an auction on December 8. More on that auction soon. Also Tuesday, commissioners approved an agreement between the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office and the Houston Metro Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. That agreement provides for training and other resources to assist Liberty County deputies to detect and investigate internet crimes involving children. Liberty County Attorney Matthew Poston told the court the agreement will open up training and resources that would otherwise not be available to the sheriff’s department. Then, in still other business, commissioners approved a final plat for a new General Dollar Store to be located on FM 1010 at County Road 328 near Cleveland.
