Constable Johnston charged with misdemeanor Harassment

LibertyCounty Pct. 1 Constable Justin Johnston has been arrested in Montgomery County on a Class B misdemeanor charge of Harassment. According to court documents, Johnston is accused of using electronic communications with the intent to harass, annoy, alarm, abuse, torment or embarrass Steffani Erickson, said to be his ex fiancé. There are no allegations of physical abuse, only electronic harassment. Constable Johnston was arrested by the Texas Department of Public Safety Thursday afternoon. We reported extensively that Constable Johnston was struck by a vehicle back on February 15, 2017, while working an off-duty job at the refining park and ride on State Highway 146 south of Dayton. After a lengthy hospital stay and multiple surgeries, he continued to undergo rehab while recovering at home. He has since returned to full-time service. Again, Pct. 1 Constable Justin Johnston is charged with Harassment, a Class B misdemeanor. Bail was set at $1,500 by Montgomery County Court at Law 5 Judge Keith Stewart. As a condition of his release from jail, he is prohibited from having contact with the alleged victim in this case. Nothing in the court documents preclude him from performing the duties of his elected office. However, Constable Johnston must be at his residence from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. daily.
