Mexican national living in Liberty charged with kidnapping

A 21-year-old Mexican national living in Liberty has been indicted by a federal grand jury in the Eastern District of Texas. We reported Juan Carlos Saucedo-Meza was arrested August 25 in Lake Charles, Louisiana, after a woman reported she was kidnapped from Liberty. The unidentified woman was able to escape her captor at a gas station and call 9-1-1 for help. The victim also told police she had been sexually assaulted along the way. According to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Beaumont, Juan Carlos Saucedo-Meza is also facing charges of aggravated sexual assault and aggravated kidnapping in Jefferson County, aggravated kidnapping in Liberty County plus a second degree kidnapping in Calcasieu (cal-cuh-shoe) Parrish, Louisiana. If convicted of the federal charge, the 21-year-old man faces life in prison.
