Sexual Assault: An Anahuac man has been arrested and charged with sexual assault of a child. Chambers County Sheriff Brian Hawthorne reports, last Wednesday, detectives with the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division executed a search and arrest warrant in the 600 block of Neirbo Street in Oak Island, and arrested Travis Daniel Harvell, 26, of Anahuac. This investigation began on Tuesday, with a tip indicating a Chambers County person may have enticed, via the internet, one or more minor children into engaging in illegal sexual activity. Detectives were quickly able to gather enough information to identify two victims in this case. Harvell was arrested and booked into the Chambers County Jail for Sexual Assault of a Child under the age of 17, a second degree Felony, as well as Indecency with a Child, a third degree Felony. Sheriff Hawthorne said this case not only involved an inappropriate on-line relationship between Harvell and the two victims but had also progressed to the point that Harvell had met with the victims on multiple occasions. The Chambers County Sheriff said they do not believe there are more victims however, the case remains under investigation.
