Volume 34, No. 219 Tuesday, December 31, 2019
LDR Hospital: We have frequently reported on the growth at Liberty Dayton Regional Medical Center and the number of new services offered. One service not talked about as much is the busiest department in the hospital, the emergency room. Bruce Stratton, President of Liberty Dayton Regional Medical Center, a recent Partyline guest, said the number of patients seen in the ER continues to grow. Mr. Stratton said they have topped 900 patients in a month, but the number of ER patients seen stays over 800 on a regular basis. Patients have learned they can receive many of the services offered in larger hospitals but do it here at home. The clinic, within the hospital, is nearing capacity and wait time remains around 20 to 30 minutes compared to one hour or more at most area hospitals. In future newscasts we will report on what this growth is leading too.
Chambers Co. Arrests: Chambers County Sheriff Brian Hawthorne reports that on Saturday a call came in about four men acting suspiciously in a convenience story on FM 2354. Before deputies could respond the men left in a car later was found to have been reported stolen from a nearby community. Deputies soon located the men, in that stolen vehicle, in Beach City. One suspect was identified as Brandon Castaneda. Another man identified as Thomas Poore. Both were arrested and transported to the Chambers County jail. Brandon Castaneda was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, and unlawfully carrying a Weapon. Thomas Poore, driver of the stolen vehicle, was charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and with having a prohibited substance in a Correctional Facility.

All LCDC grants are negotiated on a case-by-case basis. For information on these economic development opportunities offered by the LCDC call the City of Liberty at 936-334-7118.
