New Children’s Librarian: The Liberty City Council at their regular meeting last Tuesday approved the hiring of a full time children’s librarian. The new children’s librarian is a familiar face to library patrons. Katie Edgell has been with the library for about a year and recently received her Masters Degree in Library Science from Texas Women’s University. Dana Abshier, Director of the Liberty Municipal Library said Katie has a reassuring way of dealing with children that they respond to well. She said, since Ms Edgell has been with the Liberty Library the children’s story time reading program has grown. The City Library is open Monday-Thursday from 10 - 6, Friday from 1-5 pm, and Saturday from 10am-4pm.

Avoid Scammers: The city of Dayton has released some tips on how to avoid being scammed over the phone. Ask for the caller’s name and who they represent. Also get their phone number. Then hang up. Then call your utility provider using the number found on your latest bill. Give them a full report of what was said and if they gave it, give your utility company the caller’s name, and what utility service they claim to represent. Also give the caller’s phone number. If they won’t provide answers they’re crooks. Tell your utility provider all of that.
