Fire Death: Two are deceased and another is in critical condition when several fire departments were called to a fully engulfed house fire yesterday afternoon on Pine St. in Daisetta. Initial reports came in to dispatchers at about 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon. The initial caller also reported two people were still inside the home on East Pine Street in Daisetta. Firefighters from Liberty, Hardin, and Emergency Services Department #2 - which is Daisetta, Hull and Raywood found blazing fire shooting through the roof and windows of the roughly 1,100 square foot older frame home. One woman, thought to be in her 30’s, was treated by emergency medical personnel before being airlifted by Life Flight air ambulance to Memorial Hermann Hospital. She was reported to be in critical condition. A neighbor, or passerby, is said to have ripped a window a/c unit out, and pulled that woman from the burning home. The rescuer is also said to have attempted to get back into the structure to help those still inside. He was driven back by the raging inferno. At one point, firefighters lost track of one of their own. They became concerned a firefighter may be still inside the burning house. Thankfully the missing firefighter was found to be ok. However, an elderly woman said to be bedridden and another woman, in her 50’s and thought to be a daughter, were unable to escape the flames. Liberty County Precinct 2 JP Ronnie Davis conducted an inquest at the scene and pronounced the two women dead. He ordered an autopsy. Liberty County Fire Marshal Bill Hergemueller said the investigation is ongoing.
