Power Tips: Since most of our citizens in our immediate broadcast get their electric utility from Entergy lets pass along some tips on how to save on your power bill. So here’s helpful energy-saving tips to save you money this winter and keep the cold outside where it belongs. Here may be the biggest savings. Heating and air conditioning can account for as much as 55% of your monthly electric bill. Entergy’s experts recommend setting the thermostat to 68 degrees in the winter to reduce you power bill. Get this, when it’s cold, every degree above 68 on the thermostat can increase your bill by about 3%. So if you crank the heat up to a toasty 78 degrees, you’ve already added 30%. They know what they are talking about Entergy Texas, Inc. They provide electricity to, get this, about 458,000 customers in 27 counties. Entergy delivers electricity to 2.9 million utility customers in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas.
Barbers Hill: Congratulations to the Barbers Hill Eagles football team, now bi-district champions. They shut out Houston Sterling 42-0. They now march onto area playoffs to face White House this Friday night at 7:30 at NRG Stadium. For this Friday’s outing, KSHN.COM will broadcast the game, sound only, for those who cannot be there. Theft: A Dayton man has been arrested and charged in a rash of ATM thefts in Louisiana following an investigation that began in July. In addition, Michael Cupp, 44 of Dayton has been identified as the leader of an outlaw motorcycle gang called the Brothers East, and was alleged to have been involved in the thefts. On November 12 CPSO detectives along with FBI Beaumont and Dayton Police Department located and arrested Cupp. He was booked into Liberty County Jail in Texas and charged with racketeering. Judge Sharon Wilson set his bond at $15,000. The investigation is ongoing.
Lost hunter held on Fl warrant: At approximately 3:pm Thursday afternoon, a lost hunter, 30 year old Wade Allen McNutt was located on a right-of-way pipeline in east Liberty County. McNutt had left his hunting party to hunt alone at 5 Wednesday morning and became lost in a heavily wooded area near the Liberty and Jefferson County line, several miles north of Hwy. 90. After a cold and wet night, McNutt then spent Thursday night in the Liberty County Jail. According to Sheriffs Investigator Mitchell, the missing man - Wade Allen McNutt - was jailed on the Grand Theft charge out of Florida and is being held in jail here. Other charges are being considered.
