Candidates: Sign-ups for the March 2020 primary’s is underway now and will continue through Dec. 9. The list of candidates who filed, as of Sunday, Nov. 10, includes, for Republican County Court at Law #2 Judge: Terry Denise Bacon, Wesley N. Hinch, Zack Zbranek, and Farrah Hernandez Harper all have signed up to be on the primary ballot. Incumbent District Attorney Logan Pickett has filed for another term and is, so far, alone. Sheriff incumbent Bobby Rader has put his name on the dotted line for another 4 year term. For county commissioner Pct.#1 generally referred to as the Liberty area precinct the interim incumbent Bruce Karbowski has filed for his first full term. So far in that primary he will be opposed by Toby Wilburn, and James Carson. For County Commissioner in PCT. 3, often referred to as the Cleveland commissioner precinct - the incumbent James “Boo” Reeves has filed for a second term with no opposition so far. For Constable Pct. 1 of Liberty County there are three candidates: Tammy Bishop, Bill Griffin, and Jacob Cantu. Running so far in the race for GOP Constable Precinct #4 nomination: Incumbent Robert “Robbie” Thornton, is in that primary, along with Gordon Bean. In the constable precinct # 5, so far, one candidate has registered – the Incumbent David Hunter. For Constable Pct. 6 the lone candidate is Zack Harkness- All of those are four year terms and then seeking re-election as the Republican party chair for a two year term is incumbent Ryan Daniel. For all the offices so far 18 candidates have filed to get their names on the primary ballot but there is still time till the December 9th deadline to file for the republican primary So far no word from the democrat hopefuls in the primary vote. Liberty County democratic party chair is Michael Mark says he will be a candidate, in the primary voting for re-election, in the March primary voting.
Body Found: Chambers County Sheriff Brian Hawthorne reports, Sunday morning, two duck hunters discovered what investigators believe to be a white female in the water near Atkinson Island. They contacted the Harris County Sheriff's Office since the body was in the Harris Co. jurisdiction. Since that time, the young woman has been identified as Tamara Rivera, 23, of Baytown. Rivera had been reported missing by her mother to the Harris County Constables Office on Thursday night, November 7th. Her last known location was in the area of the Fred Hartman Bridge over the Houston Ship Channel. Her positive ID was established by her family. Sheriff Hawthorne said they will know more after results from the medical examiner’s office. Sheriff Hawthorne called this an active and open investigation. Barbers Hill: The Barbers Hill Eagles have reached the football playoffs as Class 5-A district champion. The Eagles had a super season, going 9-1, the only loss came very early in the season. On the Hill they were undefeated in League play. Saturday Fort Bend Willowridge, also the Eagles, outlasted Houston Sterling in a high scoring match up 51-48. That pairs Barbers Hill this Friday against Fort Bend Willowridge in Mont Belvieu at 7 PM in the first round of post season play. We will broadcast that game live on our website at
