Shooting: A Dayton man is in jail, charged with murder, in connection with an early Tuesday morning shooting. Liberty County Sheriffs Capt. Ken Defoor said they got a call just after midnight Tuesday of a reported domestic disturbance on CR 685, off of SH 321 north of Dayton. When deputies arrived they found Jose’ Moncivais dead of a single gunshot wound to the head. Originally, the dead man’s widow, Clarissa Moncivais said her son Fabian Miranda, 22, had shot his stepfather in self defense. Capt. Ken Defoor said Sheriff’s Investigator, Travis Pierce, determined evidence at the scene did not support that claim. Fabian Miranda now has been arrested and charged with murder. Miranda is currently being held in the Liberty County Jail. Again, an early morning shooting on CR 685 claimed the life of Jose’ Moncivais and his 22 year old stepson has been arrested.
Growth at Liberty-Dayton Hospital: Back in May of 2019, The Liberty-Dayton Regional Medical Center changed physician groups used to staff the Emergency Room. Lubbock based Concord Medical Group specializes in rural healthcare and is now staffing the hospital around the clock. Hospital Administrator Matt Thornton said, in the time since hiring Concord, the ER has seen a 15-20% increase in patients. Mr. Thornton has also increased the rest of the staff. Now around 30 credentialed physicians, in various areas of specialization, are working in the ER of the local Medical Center.

He said the department’s staff is appreciative of the service that veterans and active military personnel have provided. This free visitors’ day is one way to show that gratitude. State parks across Texas will also have guided hikes, bird walks and other programs going on throughout the day. Again, Sunday November 10th, entrance into all Texas state parks is free for everyone in honor of veterans and active military personnel. Camping and special activity fees will apply.
