Remains Found: Tuesday evening the Liberty County Sheriff’s office received a call from a family member who told the sheriff’s office they had not seen 56 year old Janet Jamison since July. Deputies responded to a heavily wooded area just off FM 1008 where it is believed she had been living. Captain Ken DeFoor of the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office said Deputy Bruce Sims and Sgt. Michelle Deshotel responded to the welfare concern and located Jamison’s partially collapsed tent and scattered skeletal remains in the overgrown wooded area as well as remains in a sleeping bag inside the tent. Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace Larry Wilburn performed an inquest and ordered an autopsy. According to Captain DeFoor Thursday afternoon the medical examiner was able to positively identify the remains as Janet Jamison.
