Remains Found: Tuesday evening the Liberty County Sheriff’s office received a call from a family member who told the sheriff’s office they had not seen 56 year old Janet Jamison since July. Deputies responded to a heavily wooded area just off FM 1008 where it is believed she had been living. Captain Ken DeFoor of the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office said Deputy Bruce Sims and Sgt. Michelle Deshotel responded to the welfare concern and located Jamison’s partially collapsed tent and scattered skeletal remains in the overgrown wooded area as well as remains in a sleeping bag inside the tent. Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace Larry Wilburn performed an inquest and ordered an autopsy. According to Captain DeFoor Thursday afternoon the medical examiner was able to positively identify the remains as Janet Jamison.
Fatality Investigation: KSHN.COM reported on a chain reaction crash that claimed the lives of two people in the early morning hours of Sunday, October 20th. Law enforcement reports indicate Luke Whitworth, 24, lost control of his pickup on FM 1008 around 2 am Sunday, crashing into a tree. Two people in a passing car stopped to help, pulling their vehicle off the road and into the grass near the pickup truck. A third vehicle, driven by Daniel Herrera, 32, of Dayton, struck good Samaritan Eleazar Limon age 43, killing the Dayton woman. The driver of the original accident, Luke Whitworth died in surgery. The Dayton Police Department is currently investigating to determine contributing factors as to the cause of each crash. ************************************************
