Flood Water: Harris County Public health says flood waters can and often does contain bacteria, sharp objects, animal waste and piles of fire ants. In addition tetanus can also be found in dirt and just as often in flood waters. When working your flood damaged area it’s advised to wear gloves, rubber boots, long pants and sleeves as well as use mosquito repellant when you enter a flooded home. Also dispose of anything that can not be disinfected, like mattresses and plush toys.

Body Found in Chambers County: Chambers County Sheriff Brian C. Hawthorne reports on Friday, deputies responded to a call in western Chambers County. An area realtor located a body at a property she was showing to a prospective client. Detectives say the body is that of a white male who appears to have died within the last several days. Chambers County Justice of the Peace Larry Cryer conducted the inquest and ordered an autopsy. Continued severe flooding in that area made road travel impossible so detectives called on the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office who were able to fly the body, by helicopter, from Chambers County to Beaumont. Sheriff Hawthorne said the man’s death appears to have been caused by an act of violence. That is part of the ongoing investigation described as a homicide. Sheriff Hawthorne asks that if anyone believes they may have information concerning this investigation contact the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office at 409-267-2500 or Crime Stoppers at 844-860-8477.

Football: As we have reported all five of the local football games that KSHN.com was set to broadcast last Friday, were cancelled due to flooding. Of those five games, three were already open dates. That was Dayton, Hardin, and Barbers Hill so they had no games to make up. However, Hull-Daisetta and Liberty did have non-district games scheduled but both those were also cancelled. According to officials at both schools, these games will NOT be made up. All five of the schools that we carry have games set for this coming Friday and those games will be played - Liberty and Hull-Daisetta will both celebrate Homecoming this Friday, Dayton and Barbers Hill will play each other in their District opener in Mont Belvieu, and Hardin will open their district schedule on the road in Warren. You can hear all of five of those games live on KSHN.com are at 7:30.

FLOOD DEBRIS PICK UP: Liberty City Public Works Director Damon Jones told KSHN.com – Garbage and flood damaged items should be put to the curb. It will be removed as quickly as possible but in some areas it maybe slow. Mr. Jones said some of their dump sites are full but answers to that issue are being corrected as fast as possible. Special pick ups are being set.
