TVE Events: The 2019 Trinity Valley Exposition is ramping up. Among some events. TVE Team roping is Friday October 11 - books open at 6 p.m. The event begins at 7 p.m. Saturday. Roping books open Oct. 12th at 8, then competition is at 9 a.m. Buckles will be awarded. That same day, Saturday Oct. 12 is the TVE 5 K run. Signups are underway. Pre-entry fee Oct. 10th, is $25 for adults, $15 for kids- age 11 and under. The 5 k starters signal is at 8 a.m. Sat. October 12th. Ranch Rodeo are also being accepted now but sign ups are limited to the first 20 paid teams. That event itself will be Sunday October 13th and includes ranch sorting, team doctoring, trailer loading, and double mugging. Marcus Retiring: After more than 25 years as head of the Trinity River National Wildlife refuge, Stuart Marcus is retiring. In total, he has more than 40 years in wildlife management, starting his career in Florida. Biologist Stuart Marcus’ last day on the job will be Friday November 1st. Stuart said he, in all has had a wonderful life, and there was not much he would change. Stuart Marcus said he and his wife will remain in the area and he plans to volunteer with a number of organizations. Again, after 25 years at the Trinity River National Wildlife refuge, Stuart Marcus’ last day is November 1st. His successor has not been named.
