HD Football: Athletic Director and head football coach at Hull-Daisetta, Stan Hodges announced Wednesday afternoon that he is stepping down as head football coach. He will remain Athletic Director. Hull Daisetta Superintendent Tim Bartram said Trent Wallace, four year defensive coordinator at HD, will become the interim head football coach. Hodges cited the need to take time to be a parent. He said he has not had a chance to watch his son play ball these past few years and this is his son’s senior year at Clear Creek. Hodges will be coaching at Hull Daisetta during the week, but Friday nights he will spend with his son.

New ID Director: The City of Dayton continues to add quality new positions and individuals to their staff. On August 12, the city will add a Director of Information Technology. City Manager Theo Melancon said Tyke Cameron has the right skill set and background for this role. He said Cameron’s comprehensive knowledge will be of great value as he leads the department forward. Tyke Cameron most recently worked as Technology Director for Silsbee ISD, and as Web Delivery Engineer at Hewlett-Packard.

National Night Out: This past Tuesday, the Liberty Police Department hosted National Night Out at the Liberty Municipal Park. Liberty PD along with the Liberty Fire Department and the Liberty County Sheriffs Department spent the evening visiting with citizens and enjoying the many activities set up at the pavilion. Lt. Chip Fairchild said about 500 people came out.
