For those who haven’t been to the Sam Houston Regional Research and Library recently, you still have a short period of time to see the special exhibit on display in the museum. Library Director Alana Inman said the current display will be available only until the end of this month. The special selections from the stacks display is from the storage areas of an archive. All the items in a collection can not all be displayed at once, so these selections are brought out for public viewing in this type of display. The new display will be available for viewing in October. The Sam Houston Center is open Tuesday through Friday 8 to 5, and Saturday 9 to 4.
Work on the Highway 99 Grand Parkway construction project will cause some road closures in the Dayton area through August 13th. Eastbound and Westbound FM 1413 approaching 491 Cox Rd will be closed through August 13, weather permitting. Westbound traffic will be redirected to TX- 146 and Eastbound will be directed to US 90. The City of Liberty Police department is hosting National Night Out on Tuesday August 6th at Liberty Municipal Park. Lt. Chip Fairchild said there is something for everyone. National Night Out Activities are all free and open to everyone. Things will kick-off about 5 PM and wrap up at 8 at the Liberty Municipal Park. If you would like more information you can contact the Police department at 336-5666.
A ground breaking ceremony for the huge development project on Hwy 146 south in Dayton will be held in September. Project manager for the River Ranch development Logan Sullivan said coming up September 10th they will hold a ground breaking ceremony starting at 11 a.m. The initial project encompasses 671 acres of development. That area will include homes, an apartment complex, as well as retail areas.
