KSHN Has Sold: We began reporting Friday morning that, after 42 years in operation - first as KPXE AM and since 1991 as KSHN FM 99.9 - the radio station has been sold. Today is our final day as KSHN FM. At 12:01 a.m. tomorrow, our signal will be taken over by the new owners, KSBJ. Today will also mark the final edition of the Radiogram. The decision to sell was a difficult one for owner Bill Buchanan. Forty two years of more than 54 years of his professional career have been spent in Liberty. To all our listeners, advertisers and friends, we have enjoyed our time as your hometown station. We hope we’ve done some good, and we will miss all of you. We will keep streaming at kshn.com, so while we are going off your radio, we are not completely going away. We will still be here, just different. We hope you’ll make the transition with us from terrestrial radio at FM 99.9 to internet at www.kshn.com or on most smart phones with the TuneIn app.

Ary Guilty: A jury in the 75th District Court of Judge Mark Morefield has found 26-year-old Antonio Jerrell Ary of Sugarland guilty of Capital Murder. That decision came late Friday. The jury also found Ary guilty of Burglary of a Habitation with Intent to Commit a Felony Crime. We reported he was on trial for the 2015 murder of 28-year-old Ray Berger of Dayton. Ary elected to be sentenced by Judge Morefield. The 75th District Court judge sentenced him to life without parole for Capital Murder plus 20 years on the burglary conviction.

Independence Celebration: This Wednesday evening, July 3, the city of Liberty will hold its annual Independence Day celebration and fireworks show at Liberty Municipal Park. Held on the day before the official holiday, this event allows families to attend larger celebrations or go out of town for the actual national holiday. Beginning at 6 p.m. this Wednesday at the covered basketball pavilion, there will be activities for kids. Food will be available for sale as a fundraiser for the Liberty Youth Baseball All Star girls’ teams. There will be musical entertainment starting at 7 o’clock, by Jason West and West of the Trinity band. Then, there will be a short program at 9 p.m. followed, at roughly 9:15 or dark thirty, by the big fireworks display. You can listen live to the city of Liberty’s annual July 3 celebration online at www.kshn.com.
