Shooting Investigation: Texas Rangers are continuing to investigate Wednesday’s shootings in North Liberty County. JP Pct. 6 Ralph Fuller said the woman killed by the gunman at B Dependable Plumbing is Toni Kelly, 61, of Hockley. Two men were also shot at that business, and they were transported to an area hospital. The wounded men are identified as brothers, Chris and David Grubb of Cleveland. No word on their conditions. We’ve reported Liberty County Sheriff’s Deputy Richard Whitten was also shot. He was struck in the neck and spine, very near his carotid artery. At last report, Deputy Whitten is listed in critical but stable condition. Authorities have identified the shooter as Pavol “Paul” Vido.. Hours after the shootings, the suspect reportedly died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Leave Wildlife Alone: Texas Parks and Wildlife officials report that every year young wild animals are unnecessarily picked up by people and referred to game wardens or wildlife rehabilitators for treatment and rescue. The most commonly referred animals are baby birds and deer fawns. While most of these animals are picked up by well-meaning people, Liberty County Game Warden Lauren Iles says it is important to realize that these human-animal encounters are mostly unnecessary, can even be detrimental to the wildlife and, in some cases, may be illegal.
