FLNB Expansion: As the oldest bank in Liberty County, you might think First Liberty National Bank would be content to rest on their laurels. Nothing could be further from the truth. Bank President Kelly Stretcher said expansion work is going on at their ATM location at the corner of Main Street and Jefferson Drive in Liberty. In addition to the traditional ATM, that location will soon include a covered drive along with interactive video teller machines that link directly to a bank employee who can assist the customer remotely. Perhaps the biggest news to come from Mr. Stretcher is the announcement of a second banking location in Dayton that will serve as a mortgage lending center. First Liberty National Bank is a locally owned bank with branches in Hardin, Dayton, Liberty and Huffman and two more under way in China and Mont Belvieu.

Elected Official Pay: Liberty County Commissioners said no to pay raises for elected officials for the 2019-20 Fiscal Year during yesterday’s regular meeting. Commissioner Pct. 2 Leon Wilson, who previously voiced support for a 3% increase, was not present. Commissioner Pct. 3 James “Boo” Reaves made a motion to keep salaries for elected officials at the current levels, and Commissioner Pct. 2 Greg Arthur seconded that motion. Without Wilson present, commissioners voted unanimously to leave all elected officials’ salaries at the current level.
