Memorial Day Weekend Patrols: Liberty Police Department will have extra patrol officers out during the Memorial Day weekend. Liberty Police Lieutenant Chip Fairchild said those extra officers will be focusing on drivers who are either intoxicated from alcohol or under the influence of drugs. Lt. Fairchild said, in the state of Texas, a person is either injured or killed in an alcohol-related accident - on average - every 20 minutes. He also reports that, since the beginning of this year, Liberty police officers have seen an increase in DWI and DUI arrests. With that in mind, Liberty PD will increase patrols during the Memorial Day weekend. Lt. Chip Fairchild said remember this simple message – if you have been drinking, don’t get behind the wheel.
