Sales Tax YTD: Sales tax dollars have increased for nine of the ten incorporated cities in Liberty County for the first five months of 2019. Countywide, payments sent to the ten cities in January through May rose by 24.5 percent. That’s a real dollar total increase of $941,575 for the 10 incorporated cities, countywide, that receive sales tax income. For that five-month period, local share of sales tax payments to all 10 cities totals $4,783,866. Those revenues are used by cities in their general budgets. Taking a look at specific towns here in Liberty County, the City of Liberty is up 2.15 percent while Dayton’s share has increased less than one percent. Cleveland, where things are booming, has seen a year-to-date jump in sales tax revenue of 60.62 percent.

Playoff Change: There has been a schedule change for the Liberty Panthers’ baseball playoff games. Due to weather concerns, Liberty’s best-of-three series with West Colombia will now take place at a neutral site, Grand Oaks High School in Spring, as follows. Game 1 is today at 1 p.m. with Game 2 starting around 4:30 today. If needed, Game 3 will be tomorrow at noon. Based on those changes, KSHN will now broadcast both of the Liberty Panthers’ baseball playoff games today, but we will no longer be broadcasting the Panthers’ game tomorrow. Turning to Lady Panthers’ softball, the Liberty girls play in the Regional Quarterfinals today. It’s a one-and-done matchup against Splendora. That game is still set for today at 7 p.m. at a neutral site - the Humble High School softball field. KSHN will broadcast that Liberty Lady Panthers’ softball game. If necessary, we will join the matchup in progress following our broadcast of Panthers’ baseball. These times are subject to change based on the weather. Tune in to FM 99.9 for the latest.
