Early Voting: Today is the final day for early voting in the May 4 city and school elections. Voting at all locations in Liberty County is today from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Early voting in the Dayton City Council, Dayton ISD and ESD #3 elections is at the Dayton Community Center. Hardin voters cast ballots at Hardin City Hall. Early voting for the Liberty and Ames city elections is today from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Jack Hartel Community Center. Cleveland ISD voters can cast a ballot today at the Cleveland Civic Center. Election Day is Saturday. For voting info, call the Liberty County Clerk’s Office at 936-336-4670.
Playoff Broadcasts: Here is info on this week’s broadcasts of baseball and softball playoff action involving Liberty and Dayton. Made simple, we will carry each team’s road games this week on KSHN Radio. That includes the Liberty Lady Panthers softball game Wednesday at 6 p.m. from Bay City. We will also have Dayton’s baseball matchup against Santa Fe Thursday at 8 p.m. at neutral site Crosby. FM 99.9 will also broadcast Liberty Panthers’ baseball on Friday starting at 5 p.m. from Little Cypress-Mauriceville. Catch all of that playoff action starting with the pre-game show about 10 minutes before first pitch.
Day of Prayer: The 68th annual observance of National Day of Prayer is this Thursday, and there are at least two events scheduled here in Liberty County to commemorate the day. One is on the north end of the county. It is noon Thursday at the Cleveland Civic Center, 210 Peach Avenue in Cleveland. The other local National Day of Prayer event is on the south end of the county. It’s also Thursday at noon and will be held on the south-side steps of the Liberty County Courthouse in Liberty.
Mayhaw Festival: The 37th Annual Hull-Daisetta Mayhaw Festival is this Friday through Sunday. It’s a fun-filled, family event that takes place on the grounds of Hull-Daisetta High School. For details, visit the Mayhaw Festival Facebook page – that can be accessed from the top of our homepage at
