Vaccination Event: There are now more children and adults in the community who are vaccinated against measles, mumps and rubella - thanks to a local outreach effort. A free vaccination clinic was held this past Saturday. Shannon Rasy, manager of the Liberty Dayton Rural Health Clinic, said nine adults and children received the MMR vaccine. In addition, one child showed up Saturday who needed other vaccinations as well. Ms. Rasy said, thanks to the Texas Vaccines for Children, those vaccinations were also provided free of charge. Besides those vaccinations, the Liberty Dayton Rural Health Clinic also offered free tetanus shots that had been provided through a federal program. Twenty-five people stopped by to take advantage of that free service. Shannon Rasy said the clinic will offer those free tetanus shots - while supplies last - during normal clinic hours. Liberty Dayton Regional Medical Center Rural Health Clinic is at 1353 North Travis Street in Liberty.

Early Voting: Tomorrow is the final day for early voting in the May 4 city and school elections. Early voting in the Dayton City Council, Dayton school board and ESD 3 elections is today and tomorrow from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Dayton Community Center. Hardin voters cast ballots both days from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Hardin City Hall. Early voting for the Liberty and Ames city elections is today and tomorrow from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Jack Hartel Community Center. Cleveland ISD early voting is today from 8 to 5 and tomorrow from 7 to 7 at the Cleveland Civic Center. Election Day is Saturday. For voting information, contact the Liberty County Clerk’s Office at 936-336-4670.

Baseball/Softball Playoffs: The Liberty girls’ softball team has advanced to the Area round of the state playoffs. They face Bay City in a best-of-three series. Game one is Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Bay City High School. Game two is Friday at 4:30 p.m. in Liberty. If necessary, Game 3 will follow 30 minutes after game two. The Liberty baseball team is in Bi-District action this week against Little Cypress Mauriceville, also a best-of-three series. Game one is Thursday at 7 p.m. in Liberty. Game two is Friday at 5 at LCM. If needed, Game 3 will follow Friday at LCM.
