Hospital Growth: With new services being added to the Liberty Dayton Regional Medical Center, the number of patients who use the local hospital is growing as well. CEO Matt Thornton said the hospital employs about 140 people in various roles to deal with daily patient volume, especially in the emergency room. The emergency room averages approximately 30 patients each day - more now that it’s flu season. He also expects more patients will be using the hospital imaging department with the recent arrival of the facility’s new highest tech CT scanner.
Social Security Cards: The Social Security Administration continues to add online services. Andy Hardwick of the Houston SSA Office said one recent addition to that list of services is the convenience of applying for a replacement Social Security card with an online My Social Security Account. Mr. Hardwick said as long as the information on the replacement card is the same as on the previous card then online application is available. Landowner Series: The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will hold another class in its New and Small Acreage Landowner Education Series next Tuesday, April 9. It begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Devers ISD Cafetorium, 201 South Chism Street in Devers. This month’s program covers agricultural finance. It is $10 and includes a meal sponsored by Capital Farm Credit. Registration deadline is this Friday. For information or to sign up, call the Liberty County Extension Office at 936-334-3230.
Pancake Supper: The Dayton Noon Lions Club will hold their annual Pancake Supper tomorrow starting at 5 p.m. in Dayton’s First Baptist Church Family Life Center. It’s $7 a plate for all-you-can eat pancakes with specialty toppings. Kids age 5 and under eat free. Proceeds benefit the Lions’ charities.
