Bank Robbery: Liberty County sheriff’s investigators are asking for the public’s help locating a suspect in Wednesday morning’s robbery of Texas First Bank in Hull. That financial institution – formerly Hull State Bank – was robbed at 9:17 a.m. yesterday. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his 20s or 30s wearing a black jacket, black ball cap with logo, black gloves and light khaki pants. He fled in a silver passenger car of unknown make or model. The car is said to have had a front wheel of a different color than the others. Anyone with information is asked to call the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office at 936-336-4500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-392-7867.

Shooting: A 54-year-old south Liberty County burglary suspect was taken by air ambulance to a Houston hospital with a gunshot wound to the back late Tuesday. The sheriff’s office reports the shooting occurred during a burglary at 2189 FM 2797. Homeowner Joshua Fields told authorities his house was burglarized earlier this week. Then, Tuesday night around 11:30, the homeowner reports he observed Paul Pigg stealing items from a storage building. At some point, the suspect was shot in the back before fleeing to his nearby residence on Private Road 6444. Paul Pigg was transported by Life Flight to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston. No word on Pigg’s condition.

Liberty Airport: In recent years, improvements to the Liberty Municipal Airport have included new drainage, new lighting and fencing plus 20 additional hangars. Liberty City Manager Tom Warner said the city’s airport is in great shape with all 20 hangars rented, but as it becomes more popular, some expansion is needed. Mr. Warner said air traffic in the Houston area is becoming increasingly congested so area pilots are looking for a more convenient alternative. He said the local airport really needs its runway extended to one mile to accommodate small jets and other larger aircraft. He said the city plans to seek funding for that extension from the Aviation Division of the Texas Department of Transportation.
