Liberty Council Special Election: The candidate filing period has ended for the May 4 Special Election for the unexpired term on Liberty City Council. That seat was left vacant when Paul Glazener resigned. There are now two candidates for that Special Election - William Neal Thornton and Ed Seymour.
Liberty Jubilee: The 34th Annual Liberty Jubilee is coming up on Friday and Saturday, March 22 and 23, in downtown Liberty. The family festival provides lots of food, live entertainment, children’s activities and rides, arts and crafts galore, plus much more. Liberty City Manager Tom Warner said this year’s event will include some new attractions as well as lots of returning favorites. He said that Friday night’s free street dance will feature Stoney Larue with special guest Mason Lively. There is also the BBQ cookoff, a photo contest, plus the Library Book and Bake Sale. There are still some food and craft vendor spaces available. To find out more, call Liberty City Hall at 936-336-3684 or link to the City of Liberty’s website from
Free Flu Shots: The Chambers County Health Department is offering free flu shots tomorrow at three locations. Officials say the vaccinations are being offered free of charge because of an increase in flu cases throughout the region and state. They urge anyone who has not been vaccinated - especially those who are young, elderly or have a chronic health condition – to get a flu shot. You can get one of those free flu vaccinations tomorrow from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Anahuac Health Department, 102 Airport Road. Those shots are also available tomorrow from 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. at both the Winnie Health Department, 203 East Broadway in Winnie, and the Mont Belvieu Health Department, 10616 Eagle Drive in Mont Belvieu.
KSHN Baseball & Softball Broadcasts: KSHN Radio begins another season of broadcasting both Liberty and Dayton baseball and softball games Wednesday afternoon. We will air the evening report of the news early Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. to make way for our broadcast.
