Home Invasion: Cleveland police are investigating a reported home invasion and are asking for the public’s help. Cleveland Police Captain Scott Felts said his department was called to the 600 block of Easy Avenue yesterday morning around 10 o’clock. He said several armed suspects reportedly kicked in the front door of a residence. The homeowner is said to have struggled with one of the intruders and was shot in the forearm. The intruders reportedly fled as the homeowner retrieved a shotgun and fired at the suspect’s vehicle. The homeowner believes he struck either the passenger window or rear window of a mid to late 2000s model Chevrolet Silverado, tan or gray in color. Anyone with information is asked to call Cleveland PD at 281-592-2621. Those who want to remain anonymous can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-392-7867.
Wine Tasting: Dayton Historical Society invites everyone to an evening of fine wine and hors d’oeuvres benefitting the Dayton Fire and Police Museum. The “Taste the Commitment” wine tasting is Friday, March 8, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the front lobby of the Dayton Community Center. Tickets are $35 a person. Girls BB State Tourney: The Hardin-Jefferson Lady Hawks basketball team has punched their ticket to the state tournament. The Hardin-Jefferson girls face the Burnet Lady Bulldogs on Friday. That Friday tip-off is 1:30 p.m. at the Alamodome in San Antonio. The #3 ranked Lady Hawks enter that game with a 34-4 overall record while the Lady Bulldogs are 31-7 on the season. The winner of that contest advances to the state title game to face the victor of the Dallas Lincoln versus Argyle matchup.
Boys BB Playoffs: The East Chambers boys’ basketball team has advanced to the Regional Quarterfinals. The Class 3A Buccaneers face the Nacogdoches Central Heights Blue Devils today at 7 p.m. at Woodville High School.
