Global Interest: We reported recently on two global chemical companies who have signed what are called initial user land sales agreements with the Gulf Inland Logistics Park in Dayton. While the name of only one of those companies has been released, Oleon Americas, it is believed the other is, like Oleon, based in Europe. Dayton Community Development Corporation Executive Director Courtland Holman said his main job is attracting business and creating jobs in Dayton. In order to do that, he has been talking to companies in Asia, Australia and inside the European Union.
Candidate Filing: The candidate filing period for someone to fill the vacant seat on Liberty City Council has been set. Liberty Council is expected to call a Special Election for a replacement for recently resigned council member Paul Glazener at their next regular meeting on January 8th. Then candidate filing for the Special City Council Election starts the following day- January 9th and continues weekdays at Liberty City Hall through March 4th. Both the Liberty City Council General Election and Special Election will be held on May 4th 2019. Paul Glazener’s term on Liberty Council extends until May 2020. For more information, call Liberty City Hall at 936 336 3684.
Award Winning Planning: In the fall of 2015, the County of Liberty and Texas Target Communities partnered to create a task force to represent the community. This fourteen-month planning process ended in August 2016. The result of this collaboration is the County of Liberty Strategic Plan, which is the official policy guide for the community’s growth over the next twenty years. The process involved with presenting this forward thinking plan has already won state accolades, and now, according to Liberty County Texas AgriLife Agent Alexis Cordova, has won national recognition as well. This award winning plan for the future of Liberty County and its cities can be viewed on the Liberty County website at
