Swearing In: The official swearing in ceremony for Liberty County Officials elected or re-elected in the November General Election will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday January 2nd in the 75th District Courtroom. That’s on the third floor of the Liberty County Courthouse. Those to be sworn in to office for the first time are Liberty County Clerk Lee Haidusek Chambers and Liberty County District Clerk Delia Sellers. The public is welcome to attend the swearing in ceremonies for Liberty County Officials at 10 a.m. Wednesday January 2nd in the 75th District Courtroom, third floor of the Liberty County Courthouse.
Spending Assets: Elder Law expert Pi-Yi Mayo said couples may have too much income in the form of personal assets to qualify for Medicaid coverage for long term care. Mr. Mayo said spending those assets to qualify can lead to bigger problems. Attorney Pi-Yi Mayo said any money spent on assets that Medicaid considers exempt such as home’s or vehicles, is also Medicaid exempt. If you have questions, contact Pi-Yi Mayo at 281 421 5774.
Dayton Sports Hall of Fame: We have enjoyed reporting on many of the outstanding Dayton ISD athletes from years gone by who have been inducted into the Dayton ISD Sports Hall of Fame. Beverly Goulder Murphy comes from a family that has produced several wonderful ball players and Bronco supporters. Beverly was a 3-year letterman in both volleyball and track as a Bronco. She was captain of the volleyball team her junior and senior years while earning All-Zone and All-District honors both years. In her senior year Beverly was also chosen to play in the Texas High School Coaches’ Volleyball All-Star game.
Closed: The Liberty County Courthouse and all municipal offices in Liberty, Cleveland and Dayton will be closed tomorrow for New Year’s day. Banks and post offices will also be closed Tuesday. Garbage service will not run on Tuesday in Liberty, Dayton or Cleveland. That service will resume on the next scheduled service day.
