Postal Rate Change: New U.S. Postal Service rates will take effect January 27 with the cost of mailing a one-ounce, first-class letter increasing by 10 percent. What’s called the Forever stamp will allow customers to mail a letter to anywhere in the United States for 55 cents. That is an increase of five cents per stamp. Forever stamps are good now and in the future, regardless of price changes. That means if first-class postage increases in the future, that Forever stamp will still be good without any other postage added. So, your current 50 cent Forever stamps will still be good after the price change goes into effect for new stamps on January 27. According to information from the U.S. Postal Service, packages sent as Priority Mail will see a cost increase of 5.9 percent. The price for sending Priority Express Mail will see a 3.9 percent rise.
