Fatality Accident: A 9-ear-old Beaumont boy died Saturday after being struck by a pickup truck on FM 1960 just west of the Dayton city limits. The child and his parents were outside of their vehicle looking at a large Christmas light display on the south side of FM 1960 near CR 622. DPS Sergeant Eric Burse said a pickup truck driven by a 25-year-old Liberty woman was westbound when the child left the northbound shoulder to cross the roadway and was struck. The boy, Daylen Jones of Beaumont, was taken by LifeFlight Air Ambulance to Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital where he was pronounced dead. DPS did not provide the name of the vehicle’s driver. Sgt. Burse described Saturday’s vehicle-pedestrian fatality accident as a tragedy. FM 1960 was closed down for several hours.
