Hospital Record System: We reported a few months back on the Liberty-Dayton Regional Medical Center’s transition to a huge electronic medical record storage and updating system. The system is now fully in use to provide digital patient record keeping. LDRMC Administrator Matt Thornton said the new system also allows the local hospital the ability to access patient data quickly. He said hospitals are required to keep a staggering amount of data on file to meet accountability requirements for numerous regulatory agencies. Mr. Thornton said hospital staff members spent months training on the digital system.
Social Security & Medicare: Whether calling the nationwide Social Security number or the nationwide number for Medicare, Social Security’s Andy Hardwick says some calling times are better than others. Social Security’s toll-free number is 1-800-772-1213. It is answered weekdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. However, those who call between 7 and 9 a.m. or 5 and 7 p.m. will experience shorter waiting periods due to lower call volumes during those hours. Medicare’s nationwide number is answered 24 hours a day, seven days a week. That number is 1-800-633-4227. Best time to call the Medicare number is after 6 p.m. There is a safe link to the SS website from
