Mr. Vine has served for the past five years as police chief in the city of Gladewater. That is the same city where Dayton City Manager Theo Melancon worked before coming to Dayton. Robert Vine acknowledged that he and Theo Melancon worked well together in Gladewater but said it is the potential for the city’s growth that has now brought him to Dayton.
Liberty Police Chief Resigning?: Though still unconfirmed, it appears that Thomas Claunch intends to resign as Liberty chief of police. We reported that Liberty’s chief for now three years had been placed on indefinite paid administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation into allegations of an unknown type. On Monday, Thomas Claunch resigned his membership in the Liberty Rotary Club. He said the reason was because he was retiring as Liberty police chief. Liberty City Manager Tom Warner would neither deny nor confirm that information.
