New Liberty Ordinances: Liberty City Council approved two ordinances previously discussed as information items in past council meetings. First, council approved changes to the city’s junk vehicle ordinance. According to Liberty City Attorney Brandon Davis, the changes put the city’s junk vehicle ordinance in line with more recent state laws governing the identification and disposal of non-running vehicles. The revised ordinance only concerns junk vehicles that are visible to the public. A person with a non-operational vehicle on their property will receive notice from the city that they have 30 days to remove the vehicle or hold a hearing before Liberty Municipal Judge Mike Little who will make the final decision on whether the vehicle in question is junk under the city ordinance. Liberty City Council also adopted the International Swimming Pool and Spa Code to regulate construction and safety requirements for pools and spas, both residential and commercial.
TVE Board: Trinity Valley Exposition is accepting applications for nominations to its board of directors. To be considered, one must reside or work full time in either Liberty or Chambers counties. The individual must also be knowledgeable about TVE and its many activities.
