Sexual Assault Follow Up: We have reported extensively on the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office arrest of 35-year-old James Russel Clymer for Continuous Sexual Assault of a Child following an investigation into an outcry from a juvenile female. Liberty County Sheriff’s Captain Ken Defoor said back on November 1 the child told her mother and school officials about the allegations of abuse. Those adults, in turn, contacted the local Child Protective Services. According to the investigation, the alleged sexual abuse has been taking place over several years. The last offense was reported to have taken place on or about Monday, October 29. Since last Tuesday’s arrest, we are told no other victims have come forward and no other additional charges have been filed. At last report, James Russel Clymer remains in Liberty County Jail with bail set at $100,000 by Justice of the Peace Pct. 1 Stephen Hebert.
Lions Club Radio Auction: The annual Dayton Noon Lions Club Radio Auction is this Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. and then again Saturday from 9 to noon on KSHN Radio. Tune in to FM 99.9 and listen as the club’s members describe on air a variety of merchandise and services donated by the local community. Then, call in your bid. The Dayton Noon Lions is still accepting donations of auction items. Football Playoffs: The 6-3 Liberty Panthers face the 6-4 Center Roughriders in the Class 4A playoffs. Kickoff is 7:30 p.m. Friday at Woodville’s Eagle Stadium. In Class 3A Bi-district action, the Hardin Hornets at 7-3 take on the 8-1 Franklin Lions. That Thursday game starts at 7 p.m. in Waller ISD Stadium. Turning to Class 5A, the Barbers Hill Eagles at 7-3 play the Manvel Mavericks at 8-2. Kickoff is Thursday at 7 p.m. at Freedom Field in Alvin. You can also hear the Liberty Panthers playoff game on KSHN FM 99.9.
Obituaries: James Arnold Teel, 70, of Raywood. Service is 11 a.m. Thursday in First United Methodist Church of Liberty.
