Unofficial Results: Unofficial results from yesterday’s Election Day voting in the race for Liberty County Clerk it was Lee Chambers 15, 710 votes and Joe Robertson Jr., 4,465 votes. In the Cleveland area race for Justice of the Peace Precinct #6 Ralph Fuller had 2,505 votes while challenger Monique McDuffie Brooks received 1,131 votes. In the race for State Representative District 18, voting in Liberty, San Jacinto and Walker Counties saw Incumbent Republican Ernest Bailes get 35,197 votes and Democrat Challenger Fred Lemond with 11, 476 votes. That’s with 57 of 59 Precincts counted. All results are unofficial until canvassed.

Chief on Leave: In a story we have been following since last week, KSHN was able to confirm that Liberty Police Chief of 3 years, Thomas Claunch has been placed on indefinite paid administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation into allegations of an unknown type.

Stabbing: Tuesday morning around 5 a.m. Liberty Police were called to the Travelers Inn Motel on Hwy 90 for a possible stabbing. At that location, a 51 year old man was found to have been stabbed in the neck. City of Liberty EMS treated the victim and he was transported St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Beaumont. Information indicates the victim was in critical condition but expected to survive his injuries. The unidentified victim told police he was leaving his room when a young, black male with light complexion skin, stabbed him before fleeing in an unknown direction.

Shooting: In an unrelated incident in the early afternoon hours, Liberty police were called to another violent incident. Police say the victim reported he had stepped outside his Minglewood home and was shot in the shoulder by an unknown assailant with a small caliber handgun. Liberty police continue to investigate both of those Tuesday incidents. Anyone with information is asked to call the Liberty Police Department at 936-336-5666
